Editing

I’ve copy edited and proofread everything from pharma ads to book manuscripts.

I’m an editor with experience across all stages of production. I’ve proofread ads for pharmaceutical companies, copy edited new business proposals for Madison Avenue agencies, and worked on multiple campaign-specific style guides. I’ve developed book projects from manuscript to final proof, from personal essay collections to a history of Echo & the Bunnymen. Whichever role I’d had, the goal is the same: a product that expresses big ideas in clear ways.

The piece you see here is a one-sheet marketing piece for my department, which was re-imagined to spotlight a few of our alumni who have flourished in their careers and also push back on the misinformed narrative that humanities majors do not get jobs. I wrote the first drafts of the copy, and then worked with several teams and stakeholders to refine and integrate changes.

I edit literary journals, too! Throughout my time as a writer, I’ve been involved in literary journals big and small. This is where editors gets to experiment with curating, editing, and producing issues from start to finish. I started reading submissions for Painted Bride Quarterly, then helmed La Petite Zine and Unpleasant Event Schedule. I also edited the sestinas section for McSweeney’s Internet Tendency. These days, I edit Pine Hills Review.
