An article about a Queen tribute band that turns into a pro forma interview with Peter “Phoebe” Freestone.
Queen guitarist Brian May has made it into an online site called the Hunkpedia. His entry comes after actor Brendan Fraser and before Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell. Go figure.
A “Bohemian Rhapsody” by old school computers and peripherals? From The Escapist Magazine: “The main band is provided by HP ScanJet 3C taking over the ripped shirt of Freddie Mercury, the Texas Instrument TI-99/4a replacing Brian May, bass provided by a 8 inch floppy disk instead of Jon Deacon, and a 3.5 inch disk drive providing Roger Taylor’s percussion. Incidental organ and piano are the remit of an Anatri 800XL.“
For those of you interested in that tribute song by Billy Squier dedicated to Freddie Mercury called “I Have Watched You Fly,” here it is. This was performed before a performance of Mercury: The Afterlife and Times of a Rock God. Maisie and I saw it opening weekend, but didn’t get Billy Squier as the opening act. Instead we got to hear Tom Duane, the openly gay city councilman and now a New York State Senator.
