David Lee Roth on The Clash.

You know I love The Clash and I love Van Halen. So what I find interesting is the intersection of the two. This mostly takes place at the 1983 Us Festival. Here above are clips where Diamond Dave makes comments about The Clash. Via blog of the 440r collective and I guess Chunklet.

What made me think of this is the small cliplet of DLR in Julien Temple’s bio doc of Stummer, The Future is Unwritten. The end of the first clip has the rather infamous onstage remark by Diamond Dave, after swigging from a bottle of Jack Daniel’s provided to him onstage by a tuxedoed midget.

“I just wanted to take this time to say that this is real whiskey here,” he says. “The only people who put iced tea in Jack Daniel’s bottles is The Clash, baby.”
