Nerds unite. Wang Dang.

That’s one of my students, Tony G., sporting a signed Frequency North flyer, signed by both Cristin O’Keefe Aptowicz and Shappy Seasholtz. Shappy detected he was a comics nerd and asked him where the comics stores were around here. We had already gone to Earthworld, which our guests deemed to be a pretty good store, although lacking a super-huge alternative comics section.

Other places we hit: Last Vestige record store, where Shappy found a freaking Yogi Bear 45, which looked to be a prize you would get after collecting cereal box proof-of-purchase seals, as well as a Hanna-Barbara soundtrack.

Me? What did I get? Just a little best of Ted Nugent, from which I have been blasting “Cat Scratch Fever” in the car these past coupla Springlike days.

A Nugent Aside: The classic rock stations up here play “Stanglehold” all the time. But no Cat Scratch! No “Wango Tango”! No “Wang Dang Sweet Poontang”!

My best guess is that some or all of the classic rock radio stations here are owned by conservative conglomerates that don’t like single-entendre rock songs. At first glance, PYX 106 and 99.5 The River are owned by Clear Channel.

Ah, Banalbany. No Wang Dang for you.
